MIAMI, FL — Anthony Ripkowski is tied for fifth-most interceptions through 4 weeks in the XCFL.
Ripkowski is tied with (CAR) Parker Easy and (NYJ) Sam Darnold with 8 INTs but the Miami Dolphins young Heisman winner isn’t letting it get to him and he admits he’s not afraid to thrown interceptions.
“I’m a young quarterback who’s going to make mistakes and I’m going out there each time taking my chances,” Ripkowski said Wednesday on the Dolphins Digest. “I’m just not going to hold my head low about it. I hate making the mistake, it cost us games. But I’m going to play my game and try to win us some football games. It’s life, you get up in the morning (at least you pray you do). Do you stop getting up in the morning? No, you get up and you do it all over again, hoping you learned from the day past because you want to be better.”
The Dolphins quarterback has attempted 84 passes so far when (HOU) Deshaun Watson has a league most of 146. The No.2 overall draft pick in the 2020 XCFL Draft (CIN) Quinn Strickland has attempted 119 passes. Strickland also tops the league with the most thrown interceptions with 16.
The problem with Ripkowski has been no consistent help from his running game.Throwing back to back weeks with 3 INTs is not getting up in the morning and trying to get better. Adam Gase and owner Stanley Jean-Baptiste are expressing change around the team and they know it needs to change.
Dolphins are working hard to improve the team around their young quarterback but the youngster has to step it up when the team returns from their bye week. If he doesn’t theirs another youngster waiting right behind in Matt Turner.
