Cheesehead Blog: Not Enough Footballs to Go Around?

It is no surprise that Coach Larson and Aaron Rodgers like to throw the football, but this season, with so much talent on the offense, are there enough footballs to go around? Through week 12, Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 3,286 yards and 29 touchdowns. He’s completed 160 of 266 passes, for a 60% completion percentage.

Of those 160, 130 have gone to DeVante Adams, Berry Brooks, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Alvin Kamara has added in 15 receptions for 93 yards and 5 touchdowns, but guys like Randall Cobb, Jimmy Graham, Equanimeous St. Brown aren’t being utilized. Many assume this will be Cobb’s last year in a Packer’s uniform, which is why we are seeing more MVS and Brooks, but St. Brown is a 22 year old 6’5 4.4 speed stud that only has 1 catch for 15 yards this season.

“We have a lot of talent at the wide receiver position, but there is only one football. Equanimeous knows how much we like him and think he has tremendous talent. His time will come.” – GM Nick Larson

At the end of the day, the best players get on the field, and with the Packers on a 5 game win streak, there is no reason to shake things up just yet.

“All these guys are awesome athletes. They all make big plays. Last season Randall Cobb, was the 2nd best receiver in the XCFL. This season he has made some huge 3rd and 4th down conversions, even some huge 2 point conversions. In our big playoff win last year, St. Brown caught the game winner against the Cards. Everyone has a role and has to be ready to step in at any time.” – QB Aaron Rodgers

Sitting at 6-5, the Packers just need to focus on winning from here on out. The NFC is tough and you almost have to win 11 games to make the playoffs. We will see how it goes!
