With the draft quickly approaching, lets talk about the UCLA Bruins and the big six that they have entering this coming draft. A team that finished second in the PAC the last two years, offers the XCFL a ton of talent in this coming draft. Lets take a look shall we….
The number one center in the nation Wade Currie. This big 314 pound, extremely agile offensive lineman, has anchored the UCLA offensive line for three years. Wade was a four star recruit out of George Washington Prep in Los Angeles. He will go in the first round top 20 but is probably the fifth best player in this draft.
The lightning fast corner Lewis Olsen. Lightning Lewis, this guy will run a forty time around 4.31-4.35 range. Only standing at 5’10 has Lewis projected in the third round. But, if there is one thing we know about the XCFL is that speed is king, and for that reason, Lewis will be a late first rounder!
The guy with the freak of nature leg, punter Josh Hamlin. Yes, I know, he is just a punter. Josh has an A+ kicking strength and already has the strongest leg in the XCFL and he hasn’t even attended the combine yet. In high school Josh once had three punts of 75 yards or more in one game! They might want to nick name him Juice?
The power rusher and little brother to Ja’Darius Figurs , Curtis Figurs. Yes Curtis plays second fiddle to his superstar borther Ja’Darius at all family events. Mama Figurs would give anything to have her two boys both in Atlanta (there hometown) playing together. Get it done Josh, keep these two together.
The strong safety that knocked out three players this past season. Joseph Wood. Joseph is a hard hitting safety that would be a hit sticking users dream. He brings it. He is projected in the fifth but speed in his forty could push him up a round or two.
The big nose tackle Deon Dacus. Last but not least. At 299# he is a 3/4 nose tackle plan and simple. Deon is a power rusher as well, but makes his living clogging up the middle. Projected in the fifth.
Well as you can see, UCLA will be happy for these guys but they will have a lot of shoes to fill moving into next year.
