The Chiefs move to 6-5 on the season after the big win against the Texans. The Chiefs are in fight for the playoffs, and still have a small chance to win the division if they continue to play like they have the past few games. KC has won 5 of their last 6 games and are currently 3-1 in the division.
Patrick Mahomes was nearly perfect last night as he went 14-19, 344 YDS, 3 TD, 0 INT. After a miserable start of the season for Mahomes he has really turned things around. In the past 6 games he has went 92-150 (61%), 1769 YDS, 10 TD, 9 INT. Mahomes still needs to take better care of the ball and throw less INTs, but this is still a major improvement over the early season. The offense has finally seemed to take off and if they continue to play this way the end of the season could get interesting.
Joe Mixon was a monster last night, supposedly he uses his amazing spin move too much. I guess when you allow a RB to put up 159 YDS rushing and 3 TDs, you have to point the blame somewhere. In the last 6 games Mixon has had 95 rushing attempts, 491 YDS, and 7 TDs. Mixon is the main reason for a handful of these wins. He has really stepped up and made plays when the passing game couldn’t.
The Chiefs are in a good spot, but have a ton of work left to do. The remaining schedule is as follows: Broncos, Giants, Patriots, Eagles, Raiders. All of these games will be tough battles for the Chiefs and could go either way. The Chiefs have to take at least 4 of the 5 to have a chance and even then it will be a slim chance. If they can win out that will be what gives them the best chance, but that is a hard task in the XCFL as anyone can beat anyone. For now the Chiefs will just take things one day at a time and continue to play their game.
